Thermopak:

The solution to the shortcomings of the commonly available warming technologies is thermopak. A cost-effective passive heating device which delivers, after preheating in an oven, a long lasting temperature of 39ºC.

Technology:

The hart of Thermopak is Thermusol. An innovative heat accumulating material. Thermusol belongs to the group of Phase Changing Materials (PCM). The uniqueness of this material in comparison to other PCM’s, such as hydrated salts and waxes/paraffin's, is the fact that it doesn’t get into a liquid stage during the prewarming period.

Performance:

The volumetric heat storage capacity of Thermusol is 6 times larger than water and 2 times larger than paraffin's.

Product:

Thermopak is an easy to clean reusable pack (sized 65-20-3 cm), which can be administered, after being preheated to a temperature of 42ºC, on a patients belly or breast, underneath a blanket.

University Medical Center Utrecht:

Thermopak is successfully tested at the UMC Utrecht. This prospective study included 302 patients (103 control group) scheduled for ambulatory surgery.
